Wall + Head = Staples

On Tuesday night Mac karate kicked, got his foot caught, lost his balance, and fell backwards into the corner of the wall, splitting his head open. So, at 8:00pm Nate found an urgent care to take him to, they stapled him up and they returned home just after 10:00. Mac insisted on going to school the next day and when I picked him up at the end of the day he informed me that "it was the best day ever!" According to his teacher Mac was just like a rock star with those staples in his head, plus it helps that they're so visible in his white hair. He was such a tough kid through the whole thing, but we'll see how the unstapling goes this Friday -- that probably won't be so cool.
* Wouldn't you know that the head incident happened the same week as Beckam's 2 night sickness, Jaxton's 2 night/day sickness, and Mac's 1 night/day sickness (all different days and nights). Is that pouring rain that I hear?

Fall Family Pics

Not bad for a 15 minute photo shoot in the backyard AND a good friend (thanks Kristi).
After a serious pep talk and a few silly shots, we finally got some fairly good pictures.

Vintage?!

Last Sunday when Nate saw Jilli after I had dressed her for church he said, "Whoa! Looks like she just stepped from the 80's." And, he was right on. Jilli was wearing my dress from when I was a baby. I'm fairly sentimental and always have been, so my mom kept some of my extra cute stuff around in hopes I'd be able to get some use out of them again. So, Jillian might in fact have looked like she should be sporting a feathered bang look to go with her dress, but I still thought she looked darling and it tickled my heart every time I looked at her to think that we were sharing the same dress.

My super brilliant friend Kristi suggested that instead of calling the dress "out of style," that we could just consider it "vintage." (I like the sound of that, so I think I'll go dig out some more of my old stuff -- Nate can't argue with "vintage.")

And just one more thing. These pictures were taken after church was over and Jillian had pulled out her hair accessories. (I just didn't want anyone to mistake me for loving old 80's clothes AND messy hair.)

Sweet Soccer Success!

Both Mac and Jaxton had another great season of soccer. It's been so fun to watch their athletic confidence grow and their skills expand.
After taking more than a year off from soccer (to do basketball and baseball), Mac jumped back into soccer as if he'd never taken a break. When Mac plays sports there's never anything but high gear -- he just go, go, goes the entire time. He made lots of goals, was a great defender, and made great friends with his teammates. Mac's now on the countdown for basketball which begins next week.

It was amazing to see what a difference another season's experience gave Jaxton. He started this season acting as if he was a seasoned soccer veteran. He was always right where the ball was and always had a big smile on his face (unlike Mac who is all "game face"). Jaxton made several goals each game and was one of the few players who understood how to defend. He's totally bummed that he has to wait until spring before he plays another sport.

Adios Fall soccer! Thanks for a great season!

Little Beck insists on dressing as a different character each day. Cowboy, army guy, warrior, you never know what each day will bring . . .

Isn't she a little young to be getting into trouble? I guess three big brothers have helped speed up the process . . .
