Has anyone seen my baby?

I can't seem to find my teeny tiny, sleepy eyed, quiet and cuddly baby. Instead all I can find is a hand grabbing, two teethed, rolling over, sitting up, bright eyed, and babbling big girl. Where did the last 6 months go? But seriously, we could not be more in love with this 16 lb. 3 oz (55th %) and 27 inch long (90th %) beauty! According to Mac, just looking at Jillian makes all your mad feelings go away -- I completely agree! We love, love, love you Miss J!

P.S. Beckam has given Jillian a new name which totally cracks me up, but Jillian may grow not to appreciate it as much -- "Jilli Billi Butt!"

SIX and super!

McCade turned six on January 31st and was supposed to have his party on the 30th, but it got snowed out and we had to postpone it until the following Saturday.

Mac is everything wonderful and more! I went to his parent/teacher conference this morning and not only is he excelling in reading and math, but he's the top writer in the entire kindergarten. What may be even more impressive to me is that his teacher says he's social and kind. She also said that he loves to be the spotlight (could've told you that) and that he has something to say about everything (also, could've told you that). He's eager to learn everything and is somewhat of a perfectionist. Mac loves the gospel and can't wait to bear his testimony on Fast Sunday, (which he does on his own every month). His faith never ceases to amaze me when he does things like waking up in the middle of the night and asking me to pray with him so that he doesn't have another nightmare.

To us, McCade is amazing and we think the world of him. Love you lots Big Man Mac!
p.s. if you are wondering why "excelling" is in bold, it's because Nate has made the change (2 weeks later) from "accelling" to "excelling." Apparently Mac is excelling in school, but his mom could use some more time learning how to spell. :)

thirty three

Add another candle to his cake . . .
What can I say, except that he's a great guy! Love you Nate and hope your day was wonderful!

Check out this 5 month BEAUTY!

We are loving life with our sweet lil' Jillian. She is the most wonderfully patient soul and this was made even more apparent when she was locked in the van all by herself for just over an hour. Before you go calling Child Services let me explain. I had just pulled into the garage from taking Jax to preschool when I remembered that it was garbage day and that I needed to take it out. Since I need two hands to push the big ole' thing around I sat my keys in Jilli's carseat (mistake #1). In the meantime, Beckam who was still in the car (mistake #2) decides he wants to crawl all the way through the van and go out my door, which he does and as he exits he locks the door and then slams it shut (mistakes #3 & #4). When I make it back up the driveway and realize what's happening and that the only spare set of keys is with my husband who is in a "very important" meeting and can't leave for another half hour and then it will take him 30 minutes to get home, I slightly panicked. I wanted to get mad at Beckam, but one look at him with his shoulders slumped over and his head down, not to mention his pitiful "sorry mom," I knew that was out of the question. So, he and I said a prayer and then did our best to entertain her with different knocking patterns on the windows and some very loud consoling. In the end, the poor girl just put herself to sleep until Nate could come home and rescue her. What child is that patient and wonderful? We definitely love our Jilli!
Also, for the sake of journaling, she also started on rice cereal and pureed food this month and loves anything she can get her mouth on. She also started rolling over from her tummy to her back 2 weeks ago and she's getting pretty good at her attempts to sit up on her own.

Some Things to Think About . . .

Jaxton leaned his head on me today and told me that I was "as squishy as a pillow." Thanks Jax, I'll keep that in mind the next time I hit the gym.

The other morning I was baby talking to Jillian (you know, with the whole high-pitched voice and such), when Jaxton says, "Well mom . . . some people really hate it when you talk like that and they really want you to stop." Trying not be too offended I said, "Jaxton, does it annoy you when I talk to Jilli like that?" To which Jaxton kindly replied with, "Well, it just really makes people angry." And with that he got off his stool and walked away obvioulsy making the "people's" opinion very clear. Honestly, ever since that conversation I've been self concious of the way I talk to Jillian -- is Jaxton right? Are there other "people" out there who I make angry with the way I communicate with infants? I guess it's something to consider . . .

Mac lost his first tooth about a week and a half ago. He insisted on not putting it under his pillow because he wanted to show his cousins in Utah (actually a relief since the tooth fairy had no cash on her that night). But, we have now gone to Utah and have been home now for almost a week and the kid still has no interest in putting his tooth under his pillow. Let us remember that this is the same child who will do anything for a buck and has never been known to spend any money -- he just loves to have it and save it. I've come to the conclusion that he might be slightly nervous about a strange woman with wings and a magic wand sneaking into his room when he's sound asleep and taking something from him that is rightfully his . . . hmmmm, I can't say that I blame him.

Jillian's Utah Debut

Jillian, Mac, and I flew to Utah over the weekend to spend a few days at home with the family. We had a great time letting all the fam love on Miss J, celebrating my mom's birthday, getting a pedicure with the girls, going out to eat, letting Mac have his first (& second) sleepover, seeing the elk at Hardware Ranch, having lunch with Nate's family, letting Jilli-V meet her 94 year old grandma great Venice (whom she's named after), freezing in the snow, and just enjoying the wonderful company of my family. As we drove home from a family gathering on our last night there, McCade sobbed all the way home saying, "I just want to be with my cousins!" It was totally pitiful! The poor guy just wants to move 32 hours closer to his cousins -- is that too much to ask?
